There is No Such Thing as a Better Broadhead

Everyone has been in a conversation on whether to shoot mechanical or fixed blade broadheads. These conversations unfortunately always become heated and one member of the conversation generally leaves in anger and disgust.

Many people will argue that mechanical broadheads will fly as true as a field tip. They will open further than a fixed blade and that they will even provide more massive wound channels.

On the other hand, fixed blade shooters argue that their broadheads are guaranteed to cut. This is because they are not relying on a mechanical function to kill, just fixed cutting edges. People argue a 3 blade fixed arrow head prevents wounds from sealing over and allow for higher percentages of blood loss. And that they fly just as good as a field tip.

There are two side to every story, but the argument on broadheads realistically only has one right answer. That answer is, they both work plain and simple. The only true defying answer on the broadhead argument is shot placement.

An animal shot in the vitals is going to perish. It is nearly impossible for game to survive with massive amounts of blood loss and severe trauma. Both broadheads will deliver a clean and humane kill if placed in the correct location. Shot placement is the number one most critical factor when hunting. Native Americans killed countless animals for centuries with a rock strapped to a stick. Stop, and give that a thought for a second.

Both broadheads offer crucial advantages to both parties, and we believe that is why there are such different opinion. Both parties are faithful to the broadhead they love, and they will stop at nothing for others to see things the way that they do.

Go on and have your fun arguments, but keep it in the back of your head that both fixed and mechanical broadhead get the job done. The only limiting factor is how well can you shoot. So, get out and practice your shot placement and have success in the upcoming seasons!

Remember, having the desire to become successful in hunting, takes a mindset change and that is the hardest part in this endeavor.
